WASHINGTON -- Today, U.S. Congressman David Trone (MD-06) voted to pass a resolution demanding that Vice President Mike Pence and Trump Administration Cabinet officials invoke the 25th Amendment, forcing the removal of President Donald Trump from office.
The historic move comes after President Trump directly incited the violent insurrection that claimed the lives of five people at the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday, January 6th.

WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Congressman David Trone, Senators Chris Van Hollen and Ben Cardin and Congressmen Steny H. Hoyer, Dutch Ruppersberger, John Sarbanes, Kweisi Mfume, Anthony G. Brown, and Jamie Raskin (all D-Md.) announced that the Maryland Department of Health will receive $402,607,440 in federal funding to expand COVID-19 vaccine distribution, contact tracing, and testing capacity.
“Support is on the way for Maryland as we continue to fight COVID-19 and work to eliminate the virus,” the lawmakers said. “This new federal funding will help ensure that more Marylanders get the COVID-19 vaccine as quickly as possible and will increase the state’s testing and contact tracing capabilities. Team Maryland will keep pushing to secure additional federal dollars to bring the virus under control and stop the spread of the disease.”

WASHINGTON -- Today, Representative David Trone along with Senators Ben Cardin and Chris Van Hollen (all D-Md.) announced that the City of Frederick will receive over $1.5 million from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to strengthen the city’s flood prevention infrastructure.
The funding will go towards repairs to Stormwater Pump Station #3, a critical part of Frederick’s storm water management system that diverts water from densely populated areas to a man-made retention lake. The repairs will include the construction of a new building over the existing station to house the motors, electrical gear, controls, and existing generator.

WASHINGTON -- As the United States continues to see COVID-19 cases spike across the country, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released a report revealing staggering new numbers related to the opioid and addiction crisis. From June 2019-May 2020, there were more than 81,000 drug overdose deaths in the United States, the highest number ever in a 12-month period.

The funding, awarded through the Economic Development Administration (EDA), will be used to develop and implement a comprehensive economic development strategy for Allegany, Garrett, and Washington Counties.

WASHINGTON -- Today, Representative David Trone (MD-06) announced that his bipartisan legislation, the Crisis Stabilization and Community Reentry Act of 2020, which would support mental health treatment for incarcerated individuals, unanimously passed the House of Representatives. The bill already passed the Senate on November 16th and now heads to the President’s desk for signature.
According to the Bureau of Justice Statistics, 1 in 7 individuals incarcerated in state and federal prisons and 1 in 4 individuals in jails self-reported experiences of serious psychological distress. The Crisis Stabilization and Community Reentry Act would allow for correctional institutions to partner with mental health providers to provide mental health treatment and crisis stabilization for incarcerated individuals and promote warm handoffs to community-based care upon reentry.
