WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Representative David Trone and Senators Ben Cardin and Chris Van Hollen (All D-Md.) have announced $700,000 in funding from the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) to Allegany County for upgrades to the North Branch Sewage Pumping Station outside of Cumberland, Maryland. This grant supplements existing funding for the project including $1,092,000 from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development program and $118,000 from Allegany County. The pump station’s efficient and functional operation is critical to 153 residential users and five industrial users in a very rural area.

WASHINGTON ­­– Congressman David Trone (MD-06), and U.S. Senators Ben Cardin and Chris Van Hollen today announced a $50,000 grant from the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) to Garrett College. The federal funding, coupled with $50,000 in local funding, will provide $100,000 to further upgrade internet connectivity for the campus. The project will support mobile learning, research and information exchange for 5,700 students and 500 community members annually.

The bill now faces a potential vote on the House floor. The Rebuild America’s Schools Act would invest more than $100 billion in the physical and digital infrastructure of schools across the country, creating 1.9 million good-paying jobs in the process.
