Rep. Trone Announces Congressional App Challenge Winners From Maryland’s Sixth District
GAITHERSBURG — Today, Congressman David Trone (MD-06) announced the winners of Maryland’s Sixth District’s Congressional App Challenge. Each year, middle and high school students from each congressional district participate in the Congressional App Challenge and create phone applications that showcase their coding skills.
The goal of the competition is to encourage students to learn to code in hopes of pursuing careers in the computer science field.
“The Sixth District is home to some of the most creative, talented students in the nation, and the competition for the 2020 Congressional App Challenge was fierce,” said Congressman Trone. “I’d like to congratulate Ali Zia, Musa Waseem, Rayan Shahid, and Anish Gupta for taking home first prize with their app “Pensando Gobierno,” which allows Spanish-speaking immigrants to learn about the fundamentals of American democracy as well as the rights and responsibilities enshrined in the Constitution. This app will change the lives of people not only in our district but around the country. Congratulations to every student that participated in our 2020 Congressional App Challenge competition. I have no doubt that your futures are very bright.”

Congressman David Trone was elected to the House of Representatives in November 2018 to serve the 6th District of Maryland, which includes all or part of Montgomery, Frederick, Washington, Allegany, and Garrett Counties. Trone serves on the Appropriations Committee in the 117th Congress and previously served on the Education and Labor, Foreign Affairs, and Joint Economic Committees. In Congress, Trone is fighting to make progress on issues that matter to Marylanders, including the opioid epidemic, criminal justice reform, and funding for medical research.
