Rep. Trone Celebrates Lunar New Year

Washington, D.C. – As the Asian American community celebrates Lunar New Year today, Congressman David Trone, Representative from Maryland’s 6th District, announced that he is helping to introduce a resolution recognizing Lunar New Year.

“It is important that we appropriately honor this significant holiday in the Asian American community, and I am proud to be a part of introducing this legislation,” said Congressman David Trone. “The Asian American community is an integral part of the 6th District, the state of Maryland, and our country as a whole. I wish all who observe this holiday a happy and prosperous new year.”

Trone joined Representative Grace Meng (D-NY) in introducing the resolution, which recognizes the cultural and historical significance of the 2019 Lunar New Year. It also expresses the deepest respect for Asian Americans and all individuals throughout the world who celebrate the holiday. In addition, the resolution details the history and customs of Lunar New Year, and wishes Asian Americans and all who observe the Lunar celebration a happy and prosperous new year.
