Trone Votes in Favor of 25th Amendment Resolution Following Trump-Incited Insurrection at the U.S. Capitol
WASHINGTON — Today, U.S. Congressman David Trone (MD-06) voted to pass a resolution demanding that Vice President Mike Pence and Trump Administration Cabinet officials invoke the 25th Amendment, forcing the removal of President Donald Trump from office.
The historic move comes after President Trump directly incited the violent insurrection that claimed the lives of five people at the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday, January 6th.
“What we saw at the Capitol was unlike anything our country has seen in a generation, and it was directly caused by the incendiary, disturbing rhetoric of our own president,” said Congressman David Trone. “The hateful mob, emboldened by and taking directions from the President, threatened the lives of U.S. Capitol essential workers, U.S. Capitol Police officers, the Vice President of the United States, as well as Members of Congress and their staff.
“By removing this dangerous man from office, we can help guarantee the safety of every American and ensure a peaceful transfer of power to the incoming Biden administration.”
Congressman David Trone was elected to the House of Representatives in November 2018 to serve the 6th District of Maryland, which includes all or part of Montgomery, Frederick, Washington, Allegany, and Garrett Counties. Trone serves on the Appropriations Committee in the 117th Congress and previously served on the Education and Labor, Foreign Affairs, and Joint Economic Committees. In Congress, Trone is fighting to make progress on issues that matter to Marylanders, including the opioid epidemic, criminal justice reform, and funding for medical research.
