Maryland Congressional Delegation Announces Nearly $3 Million to Boost Maternal and Child Health Access Across the State
WASHINGTON – U.S. Senators Ben Cardin and Chris Van Hollen and Congressmen Steny H. Hoyer, Dutch Ruppersberger, John Sarbanes, Kweisi Mfume, Anthony Brown, Jamie Raskin and David Trone (all D-Md.) today announced $2,987,679 in federal funding to bolster maternal and child health care services.
This funding comes from Congress through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. It will help the Maryland Department of Health’s Maternal and Child Health Bureau expand access to high-quality care and specialized services for mothers and children.
“This challenging year has brought long-standing disparities in maternal and child health care into sharper focus,” the lawmakers said. “We must ensure that at-risk populations have the high-quality care they need and deserve. Team Maryland remains committed to providing all Marylanders – regardless of their race, ethnicity, income or zip code – with affordable and accessible health care.”
The lawmakers previously announced more than $2.4 million to improve maternal and child health services across the state.
