Trone Earns ‘A+’ Rating on End Citizens United and Let America Vote Legislative Scorecard

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, End Citizens United // Let America Vote Action Fund announced that Congressman David Trone (D-MD) earned an ‘A+’ rating on the organizations’ Legislative Scorecard. The scorecard affirms Trone’s longstanding commitment to ending the dominance of special interests in politics, safeguarding our election system, and protecting the right to vote. Trone was one of only 36 Members in both the U.S. House and Senate to earn the ‘A+’ rating.

In the 118th Congress, Rep. Trone has supported and voted for numerous pieces of legislation, including but not limited to:

  • Freedom to Vote Act (H.R.11)
  • John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act (H.R.14)
  • Democracy for All Amendment (H.J.Res.13)
  • DISCLOSE Act (H.R.1118)
  • Washington, D.C. Admissions Act (H.R.51)
  • Supreme Court Ethics, Recusal, and Transparency Act (H.R.926)
  • Protect Our Democracy Act (H.R.5048)

“For far too long, politicians have taken money from lobbyists and PACs without any accountability. So it’s no surprise that Americans in every corner of the country are fed up with the rise of dark money in politics and voting rights restrictions. That’s why I’m committed to restoring faith and trust in our government,” said Congressman Trone. ”I’m proud to have supported legislation to hold special interests accountable and ensure election integrity, but the work is far from done. While I’m honored to receive this A+ rating from End Citizens United // Let America Vote Legislative Scorecard, I know we have to keep pushing to bring power back to the American people.”

“Congressman David Trone has been a leader in the fight to safeguard our democracy, expand voting rights, and get Big Money out of our politics to ensure that the voices of the American people’ are heard in Congress,” said End Citizens United // Let America Vote Action Fund President Tiffany Muller. “Congressman Trone’s strong record on these critical issues has earned him an ‘A+’ on our 2024 legislative scorecard, and we look forward to continuing to work with him to pass these reforms into law.”

Congressman David Trone was elected to the House of Representatives in November 2018 to serve the 6th District of Maryland, which includes all or part of Montgomery, Frederick, Washington, Allegany, and Garrett Counties. Trone serves on the Appropriations, Budget, and Joint Economic Committees. In Congress, Trone is fighting to make progress on issues that matter to Marylanders.
