WASHINGTON — Today, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce recognized U.S. Representative David Trone as a recipient of the prestigious “Spirit of Enterprise” Award. The award recognizes Members of Congress who promote pro-economic growth policies and who work in a bipartisan fashion to get real results for American workers and businesses. Trone was the only member of the Maryland Congressional Delegation and one of only 32 Democrats nationally to receive the award.

“From my time working on my father’s chicken and hog farm to my experience opening my first store and growing that to a large organization, I know the hard work and grit it takes to own a business in this country,” said Congressman David Trone. “When I came to Congress, the lessons I learned from business came with me, and I’ve been able to introduce legislation and vote with a business owners’ perspective in mind. I’m honored to receive this award from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and will continue working hard to promote policies that support business owners all across America.”

“In these uncertain times with daunting economic and social challenges facing our nation, it is imperative that leaders in Washington are focused on propelling American businesses forward to create jobs and economic growth from California to Maine,” said Thomas J. Donohue, CEO of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. “As we rebuild our economy, legislators must lead by pursuing bipartisan solutions that create jobs and promote a free enterprise system. I’m proud to recognize these 259 Members of Congress for their commitment to driving opportunity and prosperity in America’s workforce and on Main Streets across the nation.”
