Nearly 700 Join COVID-19 Vaccine Information Webinar Hosted by Congressman David Trone with Health Officers from Maryland’s Sixth District

WASHINGTON — As Marylanders continue to face challenges accessing information about COVID vaccine eligibility and how to get the vaccine, Congressman David Trone (MD-06) hosted a COVID-19 Vaccine Information Webinar with the health officers from each of the five counties in Maryland’s Sixth District. Nearly 700 people attended the event.

During the webinar, Trone and the health officers discussed the state of vaccine distribution in each county and how individuals can get vaccinated if they are eligible.

Trone also discussed his new COVID Vaccine Newsletter, a weekly newsletter that provides the most current information on the COVID-19 vaccine. The newsletters include over 50 links to local health department websites, vaccination interest forms, and vaccination sites. Each newsletter contains information on who is currently eligible for the vaccine and how many doses have been administered in each county.

The webinar featured presentations from:

Montgomery County Health Department

  • Dr. Travis Gayles, Health Officer and Chief Public Health Services

             Frederick County Health Department

  • Dr. Barbara Brookmyer, MD, Health Officer

Washington County Health Department

  • Earl Stoner, Health Officer

Allegany County Health Department

  • Jenelle Mayer, Heath Officer

            Garrett County Health Department

  • Bob Stephens, Health Officer

“The vaccine distribution in our state has been confusing and frustrating, and we need to be providing clear information to help get vaccines in the arms of every Marylander who wants one,” said Congressman Trone. “I’d like to thank the health officers for joining me today and for providing critical updates on the vaccine distribution in each county.”

Congressman David Trone was elected to the House of Representatives in November 2018 to serve the 6th District of Maryland, which includes all or part of Montgomery, Frederick, Washington, Allegany, and Garrett Counties. Trone serves on the Appropriations, Veterans’ Affairs, and Joint Economic Committees in the 117th Congress and previously served on the Education and Labor and Foreign Affairs Committees. In Congress, Trone is fighting to make progress on issues that matter to Marylanders, including the opioid epidemic, criminal justice reform, and funding for medical research.
