Rep. David Trone Hosts Roundtable Discussion on Criminal Justice Reform with Special Guest Rep. Lisa Blunt Rochester
WASHINGTON – In honor of Second Chance Month, Representative David Trone (MD-06) hosted a roundtable discussion on the need to reform our broken criminal justice system. Trone was joined by Representative Lisa Blunt Rochester (DE-At Large) and a panel of experts from across Maryland.
The panelists included:
- Nikki Thompson, Director of Legislative Affairs, Baltimore City Council President Nick J. Mosby
- Chris Dews, Policy Advocate, Job Opportunity Task Force
- Bill Gaertner, Director, Gatekeepers/Employment Re-Entry
- Mark Wilks, Owner, Carmen’s Corner Store
“As a CEO, we banned the box at my company and saw that providing justice-impacted individuals with employment opportunities was both good for employees and good for business,” said Rep. Trone. “Second Chance Month is a time to reflect on the urgent need to uplift justice-impacted individuals and create a justice system centered around compassion. I’d like to thank Rep. Blunt Rochester and our excellent panelists for joining me for this important discussion.”
