Congressman David Trone Announces Sixth District Health Care Centers Received Over 8 Million in American Rescue Plan Funding to Expand Access to COVID-19 Vaccines

WASHINGTON — Today, Representative David Trone (MD-06) announced that four health centers within the Sixth District of Maryland received a total of $8,085,750 in American Rescue Plan funding that helped with the expansion of the COVID-19 vaccination and treatment operations.

Federal community health centers in Maryland’s Sixth District received the total amount below:

  • Western Maryland Healthcare Corporation: $1,679,125
  • Tri-State Community Health Center: $3,085,000
  • Walnut Street Community Health Center, INC.: $1,745,500
  • City of Frederick: $1,576,125
  • Total: $8,085,750

“The American Rescue Plan helped get shots in arms faster, especially in underserved communities” said Rep. Trone. “Getting the COVID-19 vaccine is the most patriotic thing you can do, and thanks to the American Rescue Plan, it’s never been easier. I encourage all Marylanders who haven’t received the vaccine to do so as soon as possible.”

The funding provided by the American Rescue Plan has expanded health care centers’ operational capacity. The American Rescue Plan also expanded primary health care services for those at higher risk of COVID-19 and increased access to vaccines and testing.

Congressman David Trone was elected to the House of Representatives in November 2018 to serve the 6th District of Maryland, which includes all or part of Montgomery, Frederick, Washington, Allegany, and Garrett Counties. Trone serves on the Appropriations, Veterans’ Affairs, and Joint Economic Committees in the 117th Congress and previously served on the Education and Labor and Foreign Affairs Committees. In Congress, Trone is fighting to make progress on issues that matter to Marylanders, including the mental health and addiction crises, criminal justice reform, and funding for medical research.
