GAITHERSBURG, MD — In honor of National Manufacturing Day, Congressman David Trone (MD-06) and U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) Administrator Isabella Casillas Guzman visited Adaptive Phage Therapeutics in Gaithersburg on Friday. This small business focuses on testing therapies to treat multi-drug resistant infections.
“On National Manufacturing Day, we recognize the hard-working folks who keep our economy running smoothly,” said Rep. David Trone. “As a former small business owner, I know how important it is for Congress to help our entrepreneurs and small businesses. It was great to sit down and hear firsthand how Administrator Casillas Guzman and I can lend a hand. Today, our hats are off to all the workers making our lives healthier and safer.”
“Manufacturers are well positioned to lead job growth over the next decade and the Small Business Administration will continue to be here to offer the resources necessary to fuel their success,” said Administrator Guzman. “It was a pleasure to visit Adaptive Phage Therapeutics, a small pharmaceutical manufacturing business doing big things in Maryland. I want to thank Rep. Trone for his partnership as we work to help businesses here and across the country to build back better.”
Due to the pandemic, over 570,000 manufacturing jobs were lost and many small business owners had to close up shop. For Maryland’s nearly 480,000 small businesses, federal funding and resources can serve as much-needed relief. President Biden’s Build Back Better agenda is just that: providing crucial investments for retooling factories, strengthening our workforce for the next generation’s jobs, and growing supply chains here at home to wean the country from dependence on foreign manufacturers.
Congressman David Trone was elected to the House of Representatives in November 2018 to serve the 6th District of Maryland, which includes all or part of Montgomery, Frederick, Washington, Allegany, and Garrett Counties. Trone serves on the Appropriations, Veterans’ Affairs, and Joint Economic Committees in the 117th Congress and previously served on the Education and Labor and Foreign Affairs Committees. In Congress, Trone is fighting to make progress on issues that matter to Marylanders, including the mental health and addiction crises, criminal justice reform, and funding for medical research.
