Trone Visits Local Businesses and Assesses Water Infrastructure Needs During Frederick County Tour
Congressman Trone and Mayor Brown Visit the Brunswick Wastewater Treatment Facility
FREDERICK, MD – Yesterday, Congressman David Trone toured Frederick County to visit a minority- and woman-owned business, as well as assess Brunswick’s water infrastructure with Mayor Nathan Brown to discuss how the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law will improve Brunswick’s water supply.
First, Trone participated in a town hall with the staff of Envistacom, a defense communications business providing cyber services to the aerospace and intelligence communities. The company opened a facility in Frederick in February 2020. During the town hall, Trone discussed his key priorities for this upcoming year and the resources available to businesses amid the continued impact of COVID-19 variants.
Trone later joined Mayor Brown for a tour of Brunswick’s wastewater treatment plant and Yourtee Spring, which provides over 20% of the city’s drinking water. Right now, the city’s water distribution system turns drinking water brown and its wastewater treatment plant can barely keep up with demand when it storms.
With $844 million set aside in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to rebuild Maryland’s water pipes and storage, the tour served as an opportunity to let folks know that help is on its way.
“No one should have to drink brown water or fear flooding that pollutes our rivers and threatens our homes. Today’s tour of the water treatment sites is a good reminder that the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law will help rebuild the city’s crumbling infrastructure and create good-paying jobs in the process,” said Congressman David Trone. “Thank you to Mayor Brown for advocating so fiercely for folks in his city. Only by working together will we get the job done in Maryland.”

We are working every day, with the resources we have to address the issues we face, but it’s just not enough. Funding from this infrastructure bill will help us to be able to do more at a faster pace and we look forward to this funding helping our community!”
The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act or the “Bipartisan Infrastructure Law” was signed into law by President Biden in November, 2021. The transformative investment provides $550 billion to rebuild America’s roads, bridges, public transit, water infrastructure, climate resiliency measures, and broadband deployment. The historic legislation will create 1.5 million good-paying, union jobs every year over the next decade. You can read more about the law here.
