Congressman Trone Rated One of the Most Bipartisan Elected Officials in Maryland and the Nation

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Common Ground Committee, a nonpartisan organization working to reduce political polarization and incivility, named Congressman David Trone (MD-06) a “Champion” for bipartisanship on its 2022 Common Ground Scorecard

Trone was rated the most bipartisan official in Maryland and 12th most bipartisan official in the nation out of all U.S. Representatives, Senators, and Governors.

Trone received a score of 90 out of 110 possible points for his strong record of working across the aisle. The average score of all elected officials was 29 points. The Scorecard assesses the degree to which elected officials seek consensus and engage in productive dialogue, using data aggregated from the Lugar Index, GovTrack, and Bipartisan Policy Center.

The Common Ground Committee cited Trone’s leadership as a co-founder of the Bipartisan Addiction and Mental Health Task Force, participation in the American Congressional Exchange with Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA), and efforts hosting Congress Goes Purple to raise awareness for substance use disorder. Congressman Trone has previously been recognized by Georgetown University and the Lugar Center for his commitment to bipartisanship.

“I came to Congress to find solutions for our nation’s mental health and addiction crises, and these conditions don’t discriminate based on party affiliation. Marylanders want to see government officials put politics aside to deliver on important issues, and I’m committed to doing just that,” said Congressman David Trone. “When Congress puts people over politics, we can accomplish amazing things.”

Congressman David Trone was elected to the House of Representatives in November 2018 to serve the 6th District of Maryland, which includes all or part of Montgomery, Frederick, Washington, Allegany, and Garrett Counties. Trone serves on the Appropriations, Veterans’ Affairs, and Joint Economic Committees. In Congress, Trone is fighting to make progress on issues that matter to Marylanders, including the mental health and addiction crises, criminal justice reform, and funding for medical research.
