Congressman David Trone Releases Statement on the Legacy of Congressman A. Donald McEachin
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, U.S. Congressman David Trone (MD-06) issued the following statement to honor Congressman A. Donald McEachin (VA-04), his life, and his congressional legacy on the day of his funeral.
“Congressman Donald McEachin was a fighter who always looked out for his constituents’ best interests. He fought for action on climate, affordable health care, gun reform, and, most importantly, he fought to give a voice to the voiceless. But above all, Donald’s biggest passion was working to ensure that our children have a clean and safe environment to grow up in.
“A staunch advocate for environmental protection, he served as the Co-Chair of the Congressional Black Caucus’ Energy, Environment, and Agriculture Task Force and Vice Chair of the Sustainable Energy and Environment Coalition, where he could fight at the forefront..
“Donald was able to make strides on this issue by voting in favor of the Inflation Reduction Act, which is bringing real, climate change solutions to Virginians and Marylanders. The law is seen by many as the largest climate investment in American history and lays out a path to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050. As we continue to see the environmental impacts of this law in the months and years ahead, we will think of Donald and his efforts.
“Donald will be remembered for the steps he took in Congress to make Americans lives better. My thoughts are with Donald’s family, loved ones, team, and constituents as they deal with this tragic loss.”
