Democratic House Appropriator Congressman David Trone Releases Statement on Bipartisan Topline Appropriations Agreement

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman David Trone (D-MD), a member of the House Appropriations Committee, released the following statement on the bipartisan topline appropriations agreement:

“This framework is a long-awaited step in the right direction to fulfill the debt limit agreement reached last year, avoid the month-to-month threats of a government shutdown, and protect vital programs that hardworking Marylanders count on.

“After a year of hundreds of votes and thousands of hours spent debating House Republican-led bills that reneged on the original deal and slashed critical federal functions to the point of inoperability, I’m pleased Speaker Johnson has recognized the value of governing over campaigning.

“Alongside my colleagues on the Appropriations Committee, I look forward to considering this legislation in the coming weeks.”

Congressman David Trone was elected to the House of Representatives in November 2018 to serve the 6th District of Maryland, which includes all or part of Montgomery, Frederick, Washington, Allegany, and Garrett Counties. Trone serves on the Appropriations, Budget, and Joint Economic Committees. In Congress, Trone is fighting to make progress on issues that matter to Marylanders.
