Trone secures $1.5 million in Community Project funding for Garrett County

OAKLAND — Over $16 million in federal Community Project Funding secured by Congressman David Trone (D-MD) has been signed into law by President Biden and will be delivered to Maryland communities.
The following Garrett County projects were secured by Congressman David Trone:
- $1,000,000 for the Deep Creek Volunteer Fire Company Capital Improvement Project
- $500,000 for the Oakland Community Center expansion
On the Deep Creek Volunteer Fire Company Capital Improvement Project: “We are incredibly grateful that Congressman Trone fought for our Community Project Funding request to be included in this year’s funding package, including funding to replace our 28-year-old ladder truck,” said Deep Creek Volunteer Fire Chief Jason King. “This crucial funding will expand and increase our fire company’s ability to keep our Deep Creek community safe, which is always our top priority.”
On the Oakland Community Center expansion: “Open and accessible meeting spaces are vital to a community’s health, growth, and success. The Oakland Community Center offers invaluable programming to ensure our community’s needs are met, including space for recreational sports and events,” said Oakland Mayor Kathryn Shaffer. “We thank Congressman Trone for his continued leadership in helping fund local projects and support Marylanders.”

Congressman Trone also secured Community Project Funding to deliver direct federal investment in local projects that will help lead to better community-provided resources and spur economic growth and job creation.
Based on current calculations for FY24, Congressman Trone is ranked among the top 10 Democrats in terms of secured federal Community Project Funding in one Congressional District.
