Trone, Owens Introduce Resolution to Honor the Resiliency of America’s Teachers during Teacher Appreciation Week

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, in honor of Teacher Appreciation Week, Congressmen David Trone (D-MD) and Burgess Owens (R-UT) introduced a resolution to Honor the Resiliency of America’s Teachers. Our teachers have faced numerous challenges these last few years, from addressing learning deficits caused by COVID-19 school closures to embracing new teaching methodologies to reach diverse learners, and their resiliency deserves to be celebrated.

Our educators are skillful professionals who spend 52 hours a week committed to shaping the minds of the future, many of whom teach in the same school for most of their careers and have an average of 14.5 years of experience. This resolution acknowledges the vital role teachers play in providing educational choices, upholding rigorous academic standards, and continually seeking professional development opportunities to meet the needs of all students.

“In the face of unprecedented challenges, our teachers have shown extraordinary dedication and resilience, ensuring that every child receives the education they deserve,” said Rep. Trone. “With the amount of adversity they’ve had to overcome these last few years, it’s clear they are the cornerstone of our future. Today, let us acknowledge and celebrate their hard work and relentless commitment to building the future leaders of our nation.”
