HAGERSTOWN, Md. – Congressman David Trone (D-MD 6th District) toured the Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics on Tuesday in Hagerstown as part of his education tour of the district.
PIA is currently ranked number one on Forbes top two-year trade schools list, which is a climb of ten spots from last year’s rank at number 11.
During the tour, Representative Trone got to see what makes the facility number one and what the students do to focus on education and career readiness when entering the aviation industry.
The Congressman observed the changes and growth of aviation and is planning to update education for those in that career field.
“I’m going to take back to congress my assignment. We need to help the federal committee on aviation to change the rules and regulations for the curriculum which hasn’t been touched since 1962,” said Trone.
Trone is the only representative from Maryland on the education and labor committee.
