WASHINGTON, D.C. — In recognition of Women’s History Month, Congressman David Trone (MD-06) hosted a “Trone Talk” with Congresswoman Madeleine Dean (PA-04), co-chair of the Congressional Caucus for Women’s Issues, on pay inequality, employment disparities, and the struggle for gender equality in America. During the conversation, the two discussed efforts to close the gender pay gap and encourage more women to run for office.

“Across the country, women make an average of 83 cents to the dollar of their male coworkers. That number is worse for women of color, who make an average of 63 cents to the dollar of their white male coworkers,” Congressman Trone said. “These statistics are shameful, but we’re working hard to close the gap. It’s crucial that we do everything we can – together – to support working families and ensure equity for the women who keep our country running.”
“Women’s History Month is a time to uplift the tremendous progress women have made in our nation and highlight the work we still must do to achieve gender equity. I’m grateful to my colleague, Rep. Trone, for the opportunity to discuss our work to address equal pay and employment disparities for women,” Congresswoman Dean said. “As the co-chair of the Congressional Caucus for Women’s Issue, I will continue to prioritize gender equity for our future generations.”
Congressman David Trone was elected to the House of Representatives in November 2018 to serve the 6th District of Maryland, which includes all or part of Montgomery, Frederick, Washington, Allegany, and Garrett Counties. Trone serves on the Appropriations, Veterans’ Affairs, and Joint Economic Committees in the 117th Congress. In Congress, Trone is fighting to make progress on issues that matter to Marylanders, including the mental health and addiction crises, criminal justice reform, and funding for medical research.
