Trone Presents $2 Million in Community Project Funding for Marylanders
Congressman Trone presented a $1.5 million check in federal Community Project Funding to the Asian American Center of Frederick on Monday
FREDERICK, MD — Earlier this week, Congressman David Trone visited Frederick and Montgomery Counties to speak with local workers and businesses, visit community centers, and meet with recipients of his requested Community Project Funding.
On Monday, Trone kicked off his district tour by presenting $1.5 million in Community Project Funding to the Asian American Center of Frederick, where he spoke with leaders of the Asian American community. The funding will go toward a new space to serve as its new Asian American Service Center for community programs and services. Trone then toured Comus, a manufacturer of environmentally friendly concrete in Woodsboro, to learn more about their operations and green practices.
Trone continued his tour on Tuesday in Germantown, where he first visited the Germantown Library. During his visit to the newly-renovated facility, Trone learned about the programs they offer and the ways in which the library supports the community. Trone wrapped up his visit to Montgomery County by presenting $500,000 in Community Project Funding to the South Germantown Recreational Park, where he addressed community leaders about the importance of the funding going toward local bike and walking paths in the park.
“The pandemic forced our local leaders to make tough decisions on what needed immediate funding, and what had to be cut. Thankfully, Congress stepped up to restore Community Project Funding to make essential investments in our communities,” said Congressman Trone. “I was proud to work with local leaders to direct funding to the projects that would help Marylanders the most — and I’m glad to see these projects are making the positive impact we knew they would.”
Congressman David Trone was elected to the House of Representatives in November 2018 to serve the 6th District of Maryland, which includes all or part of Montgomery, Frederick, Washington, Allegany, and Garrett Counties. Trone serves on the Appropriations, Veterans’ Affairs, and Joint Economic Committees in the 117th Congress. In Congress, Trone is fighting to make progress on issues that matter to Marylanders, including the mental health and addiction crises, criminal justice reform, and funding for medical research.
