Trone Celebrates Congressional Labor Caucus Re-Launch
WASHINGTON, D.C. — This week, Congressman David Trone (D-MD) joined the Congressional Labor Caucus Co-Chairs Debbie Dingell (D-MI), Steven Horsford (D-NV), Donald Norcross (D-NJ), Mark Pocan (D-WI) and AFL-CIO Secretary-Treasurer Fred Redmond and senior representatives from the Labor community to re-launch the Labor Caucus for the 118th Congress. The Labor Caucus works to protect workers’ rights, advance the priorities of workers and the labor movement, and connect legislators directly with workers and unions.
“America is at its best when our workers are protected, fairly compensated, and provided with the benefits they’ve earned,” said Congressman Trone, who holds a 100% voting record with the AFL-CIO. “I’m proud to help re-launch the Labor Caucus to protect our unions and focus on the issues hardworking families face every day. I’ve proudly stood with union workers on the picket lines as they fight for better working conditions, and that’s something I won’t ever forget while serving Maryland in Congress. I will always support the backbone of our nation’s economy: our workers.”
Last Congress, Congressman Trone voted for the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which will add, on average, around 2 million good-paying, majority-union jobs per year over the course of the decade. The vast majority of funding “will be subject to Davis-Bacon requirements, which ensure that contractors pay workers on construction projects a fair, prevailing wage so that local wages, labor markets, and workers won’t be undercut,” according to the Biden administration. Trone has also voiced strong support for President Biden’s February 2022 Executive Order on Project Labor Agreements for federal construction projects. Congressman Trone is also a proud original cosponsor of H.R. 20, the Protecting the Right to Organize Act of 2023 (PRO Act) and voted for its successful passage in the House last Congress, to expand workers’ protections and rights, including to organize and collectively bargain in the workplace.
Congressman David Trone was elected to the House of Representatives in November 2018 to serve the 6th District of Maryland, which includes all or part of Montgomery, Frederick, Washington, Allegany, and Garrett Counties.
