OAKLAND — Maryland Sixth District Representative David Trone arrived in Garrett County on Sunday for several “big check” presentations as part of the Community Project Funding (CPF) initiative.
He was joined by his staff, Maryland Sixth District Democratic candidate April McClain-Delaney as well as local dignitaries.
Sunday morning kicked off with a visit to the Oakland Community Center where Trone presented a check for $500,000 to Oakland Mayor Andrew Sauder. Council President Jay Moyer and Council Member Tonya Helbig were also in attendance. This was secured during Fiscal Year 2024.
This will help fund the plans for the Oakland Community Center Expansion Project. The addition of multiple courts will update and upgrade the space for expanded concession space, additional bathroom space, everyday use, clubs and other community activities. Sports such as basketball, indoor soccer, volleyball, pickleball and more can be accommodated.
