U.S. Congressman David Trone Hosts COVID-19 Volunteerism Webinar with Hundreds of Attendees, Joined by Nonprofit and Advocacy Organizations in Maryland

GAITHERSBURG, MD – Today, U.S. Congressman David Trone (MD-06) hosted a webinar to discuss volunteer opportunities in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic with nonprofit and advocacy organizations.

“So many families in Maryland are feeling the economic and health burdens of this crisis, and nonprofit and advocacy organizations are stepping up to help those in need,” said Congressman Trone. “The organizations that presented today provide tremendous support to our communities, and we want to make it as easy as possible for others to get involved in making a difference during this difficult time.”

This is Trone’s fifth webinar focused on the COVID-19 pandemic. He previously held webinars on Small Business and Nonprofit Resources with U.S Senator Ben Cardin (D-MD), Coronavirus Scams, and Mental Health Resources, and Small Business Resources.

Congressman David Trone was elected to the House of Representatives in November 2018 to serve the 6th District of Maryland, which includes all or part of Montgomery, Frederick, Washington, Allegany, and Garrett Counties. Before becoming a member of Congress, Congressman Trone had experience running both a small business and a large organization with over 7,000 employees. Trone serves on the Education and Labor, Foreign Affairs, and Joint Economic Committees, where he is fighting to make progress on issues that matter to Marylanders, including the opioid epidemic, criminal justice reform, and funding for medical research.
