Following Historic Supreme Court Decision, Congressman David Trone Hosts Conversation on LGBTQ+ Justice and Equality with Congressman Mark Takano, the Human Rights Campaign, the National Center for Transgender Equality, and Local Leaders

GAITHERSBURG, MD – Today, U.S Congressman David Trone (MD-06) hosted “A Conversation with LGBTQ Leaders: The Ongoing Fight for Justice and Equality” with Congressman Mark Takano (CA-41), the Human Rights Campaign, the National Center for Transgender Equality, Montgomery City Councilmember At-Large Evan Glass, and Joseph and David Brecker-Richardson from Washington County.

This conversation comes during Pride Month and on the heels of a historic Supreme Court decision prohibiting employers from firing LGBTQ+ workers on the basis of their sexual identity.

“While we cannot celebrate Pride Month in person this year, it’s important to come together to celebrate the progress made by the LGBTQ+ community and recognize the work that still needs to be done to achieve true equality,” said Congressman David Trone. “I want to thank Congressman Mark Takano and our distinguished panel of LGBTQ+ leaders for sharing their personal experiences and providing much-needed insight and resources on how we can continue to be steadfast allies to the LGBTQ+ community.”

Trone has also held webinars on volunteerism, small business and nonprofit resources, how to safeguard yourself from COVID-19 scams, and mental health during the COVID-19 outbreak.
