Hagerstown, Md. — Today, U.S. Congressman David Trone (MD-06) toured Maryland’s Sixth District to learn about COVID-19 recovery efforts and programs to support young adults in our community.

Trone started the day in Hagerstown with a hard hat tour of the new Easterseals Adult Day Services building and a discussion with Easterseals staff on their efforts to create a Young Adult Reentry Program. Following the hard hat tour, Rep. Trone participated in a walking tour of Hagerstown to discuss with City staff the impact of COVID-19 on downtown economic development. He also visited Horizon Goodwill’s Young Adult Solution Center to learn how the center helps young adults develop job skills. Rep. Trone ended the day by traveling to Frederick to host a roundtable discussion on the impacts of COVID-19 on the downtown Frederick community.

Trone speaks with the leadership of the Horizon Goodwill’s Young Adult Solution Center.

“It’s clear that we have a long way to go to fully recover from this pandemic,” said Congressman Trone. “Thankfully, Maryland is chock-full of small businesses, organizations, and community leaders who are committed to ensuring that no one in our community gets left behind as we rebuild. I know that if we come together – local and national governments, Republicans and Democrats – we will weather this storm.”

Congressman David Trone was elected to the House of Representatives in November 2018 to serve the 6th District of Maryland, which includes all or part of Montgomery, Frederick, Washington, Allegany, and Garrett Counties. Trone serves on the Education and Labor, Foreign Affairs, and Joint Economic Committees, where he is fighting to make progress on issues that matter to Marylanders, including the opioid epidemic, criminal justice reform, and funding for medical research.
